Black Rabbit Artisan is the brain-child of Lisa Bryant, who working in the science and animal industry
needed an outlet for her artsy creativity. Art is the Ying to the science Yang, ensuring stability of the mind - or at least
that's the aim!
The name Black Rabbit has two origins; the name which as a child I
used to entitle the novel and film Watership Down (after the Black Rabbit of Inle, or the bunny grim reaper). The other is
after one of my own beloved rabbits, Pippin, who is my black rabbit and has such courage, charisma and attitude! I believe
the Black Rabbit of Inle would be given a run for his money if he tried to cart off dear old Pippin!
I started making cards in high school, when I was never particularly happy with the ordinary cards available at rather
exorbitant prices. Having a natural talent for drawing, composition and creativity (a talent I thankfully inherited from my
father and Oma) I embarked on my own card creations. Fifteen years later, I decided to expand from gifting cards to just friends,
family and work colleagues and also include my passion for and hobby of photography. Thus begun the creation of Black Rabbit
Artisan.
Lisa resides in Melbourne with her partner, Matthew and her menagerie, which includes
two dogs (Loki and Ashwyn), two cats (Katana, Falchin) and six rabbits.
